As regular readers will know, I do some work with the Technology Strategy Board and the Creative Industries KTN as their content industries specialist – following on from my role with them as the, ahem, Convergence and Metadata Theme Champion. One of my chief roles is to help spread the word – to the right people – about the TSB’s various funding competitions.
Well, this autumn, the TSB have announced the best part of £30 million’s worth of investment in the creative industries, through a combination of R&D, feasibility studies, training and so on. Specifically, two collaborative R&D funds have been announced, one around cross-platform production tools and the other around “frictionless” commerce or digital transactions.
Next week we’ll be hosting a series of briefing events around the country, with a combination of myself, the TSB’s Matt Brown and CIKTN’s Frank Boyd – and some great guest speakers – introducing the new CI strategy, going through the scopes in detail and giving some context to the thinking around them.
Our “tour schedule” looks like this
Monday September 30th – London, Royal Society of Arts
Tuesday October 1st – Manchester, Media City
Wednesday October 2nd – Glasgow, Pacific Quay
Thursday October 3rd – Newcastle, Northern Design Centre
All the events run from 10.30 to 16.00 and there are full details at the links above. Please come along – and say hello! In the meantime, I will, of course, be blogging the events. We’re back out again the week of the 15th; I’ll post those details up shortly.
